GIN JATIM, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the General Election Commission (KPU RI) signed a memorandum of understanding related to the synergy of the implementation of duties and functions in the implementation of General Elections and the 2024 simultaneous elections.
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure that all series and stages of the 2024 Election run safely and smoothly took place at the RI KPU Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 29 2022. “Today, the National Police together with the KPU signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation. Of course, the substance or essence of this memorandum of understanding is how the National Police and the KPU synergize to carry out activities, especially the Police in securing, overseeing and maintaining that all stages of the Election that have been determined by the KPU can be running,” said Sigit after the signing of the MoU. In the memorandum of understanding, said Sigit, the police will carry out security and escort from the start entering the election stage. Among them are the preparation of logistical needs, distribution, implementation of voting at polling stations to recapitulation at the central and regional levels. “Of course it is our hope that the 2024 election will be a better election than the previous elections. We agree that what we usually call politics can create polarization, we must avoid that,” said Sigit. In the implementation of the upcoming 2024 Election, Sigit stressed, the most important thing and always inflaming it is that all elements of society must have the enthusiasm and commitment to continue to maintain and maintain the value of the unity and integrity of the Indonesian Nation. According to Sigit, disagreements and different choices in the five-year democratic party are commonplace. However, Sigit stressed, all prospective leaders at the central and regional levels must be committed to always maintaining unity and integrity, preventing polarization, and bringing Indonesia’s vision and mission to a much better one. “Differences in opinion choices are normal. However, what we always remind is that whoever the leader is, both at the regional and national levels, will continue to lead. What is called unity is an absolute requirement or the main requirement. So we must take care of that. We have to leave bad things behind,” said Sigit. By maintaining safe and peaceful elections, Sigit said, in the future it is hoped that Indonesia can become an example for other countries in creating a conducive democratic climate. This spirit, stressed Sigit, is always inflamed by outreach to students, social organizations, youth organizations, communities and all elements of society. According to him, all elements of the nation must have the same commitment in realizing the holding of peaceful elections. “Of course we agree that Indonesia wants to be one of the barometers related to the implementation of established and democratic elections. Which leaves negative things and polarization behind. That is our agreement and commitment. I think please help media colleagues to help socialize it, because this in the interests of the nation. The interests of all of our people,” said Sigit. Going deeper, Sigit asked all elements of the nation to learn from the experience of the previous elections. So, in 2024 there will no longer be polarization, politicsidentity, SARA and other things that can damage the unity and integrity of the nation. “We hope that in the future we will educate and socialize it so that the democratic process can run better. So, Indonesia is aiming to create a more stable, dignified democracy and how this democratic party becomes the people’s party, the community’s party,” said the former National Police Criminal Investigation Headquarters. On the other hand, Sigit said, currently, Indonesia is in a very good position, because it is in fifth place among the G-20 countries. And being at the top of global leadership, Sigit stated, all elements of society must continue to maintain this positive trend, in order to realize Indonesia Gold 2045. “And we must guard this.
