Polri Exhibits Paintings of Disabled Persons at Soetta Airport Jakarta – As many as 20 paintings by persons with disabilities selected from the 2022 Police Art Festival are on display at Terminal 3 of Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten, Thursday (29/12/2022). The paintings exhibited in the domestic arrivals area are intended to spoil the eyes of passengers and also to beautify the magnificence of Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In addition, it is a form of appreciation for the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and also creates a friendly environment for vulnerable groups, in this case people with disabilities. The existence of dozens of these paintings also attracted the attention of tourists who had just got off the plane. They were interested to see for a moment the paintings placed on the escalator while taking photos with their gadgets. “I express my highest gratitude and appreciation to Angkasa Pura 2 and also Tempo, which has synergized and collaborated in providing facilities to our brothers and our children. Today there are 20 works that we can display in public spaces,” said the Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo at Soetta Airport. Dedi continued, Polri’s attention to persons with disabilities was not only by holding a painting competition through the 2022 Police Art Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki on 21 December in commemoration of International Day of Disabilities. Not only that, in several regional units, such as the South Tangerang Police, they empower persons with disabilities by employing them. “The National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowa ordered that all police service centers, starting from the level of the Polsek, Polres, Polda and Polri Headquarters, must be disabled friendly,” said Soetta Airport Dedi. Furthermore, said Dedi, the purpose of the exhibition of paintings at the airport is because it is a public space. Apart from that, according to him, there is a trend of increasing passengers at Angkasa Pura, especially at Terminal 3 of Soetta Airport. The former Central Kalimantan Police Chief emphasized that he wanted to show the public that the National Police Chief opened up space for the public to be able to criticize the National Police so that in the future it would be better. “Both with this contest for works by disabled people and previous competitions, namely murals, writing letters to the Chief of Police and street musicians art, they are free to criticize the Police through art. The Chief of Police also did not hesitate to open up space for dialogue and he was very open that the Police were ordered “You can’t close yourself off. People (Polri) must be open to receiving suggestions, input and criticism,” he said. The two-star general added that these 20 paintings are of very high quality. In terms of theme, the painters with disabilities not only illustrate the appreciation of the services that have been carried out by the National Police, but also the hope of public awareness to eliminate the stigma against persons with disabilities and provide support to improve the capabilities and welfare of persons with disabilities. Meanwhile, Senior Manager Service and Facility Terminal 3, Muhammad Syarif, is grateful for being able to support the National Police, which provides opportunities for people with disabilities to show offhis work in Terminal 3. “We are also proud to be able to support fellow artists with disabilities. And we, Angkasa Pura 2 friends, support all works of art that in Indonesia can be showcases for art products in Indonesia at our airport,” he said. He hopes that passengers and service users can enjoy the works of people with disabilities. “Hopefully the messages from disabled people through this painting can be conveyed to the public through passengers and service users at this airport,” he said.
