Test Jabodebek LRT, President: Very Fast and Without Drivers

President Joko Widodo inspected and conducted trials of the Jabodebek integrated cross-rail train (LRT) project, on Monday, December 26, 2022. Next, the President tapped the Jabodebek LRT multi trip card to enter and boarded the escalator to platform 2. The President then boarded the first carriage of the TS 23 LRT train series which carried 5 other train carriages and then headed to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Station, Jakarta East.

The series of LRT trains carrying the President and his limited entourage departed at 08.16 WIB, and arrived at the TMII station at 08.28 WIB. The 9-kilometer journey takes 12 minutes at a train speed of 80 km/hour.

“Very fast and without a driver,” said the President in his statement after testing the LRT train at TMII Station, Jakarta.

On this occasion, the President also appreciated the Jabodebek LRT train project which is the work of the nation’s children. “What we are happy about, we are proud of is that this train is made by INKA, everything is made by INKA, including the system without a driver, all from INKA,” said the President.

According to the President, currently the progress of the Jabodebek LRT train has reached 87 percent. However, there are still a number of things that must be completed in order to operate according to the set targets, starting from the depot to system synchronization.

“We hope that later in June, July 2023 we will be able to operate simultaneously with the fast train,” said the President.

The President also admitted that he was comfortable after testing the Jabodebek LRT train. However, the President said that he still heard a little sound when the LRT train was on a turning track.

“I was comfortable, fast, and not noisy. Just right at the corner (noisy),” he said.

Also accompanying the President in this review were the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, and Acting. Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono.
