Drizzling rain greeted the arrival of President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana at Tianfu International Airport, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, People’s Republic of China (PRC), on Thursday, July 27 2023.
After traveling for about 5 hours, the Indonesian-1 Presidential Plane carrying the President and Mrs. Iriana landed at around 14.40 local time. After the plane stopped completely, then the President and Mrs. Iriana went down the stairs of the plane and two children were seen giving flowers to the President and Mrs. Iriana.
Afterwards, the Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun and Defense Attache to the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Brigadier General (Mar) Benny P. Nadeak and their respective wives welcomed the President and Mrs. Iriana under the plane’s stairs.
From the PRC side, it was also seen that they welcomed the PRC Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng, PRC Ambassador to RI Lu Kang and his wife, and the Governor of Sichuan Province Huangqiang.
Apart from that, the arrival of President Jokowi and Mrs. Iriana was also warmly welcomed by a number of Chinese students who lined up to accompany the President and Mrs. Iriana to the vehicle.
From the airport, the President and Mrs. Iriana and their entourage continued their journey to the hotel where they spent the night during their visit to Chengdu.
Upon arrival, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Head of the Indonesian Capital City Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono, Chairman of KADIN Arsjad Rasjid, and DCM of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Dino R. Kusnadi and his wife welcomed them.
